It's my favorite time of the year – Christmas home tours! I absolutely love decorating our home for the holidays and have lots of Christmas decor inspiration to share with you over the next few weeks. Today, I'm joining Krista from The Happy Housie and kicking off our Christmas home tour with a tour of our dining room. There will be 30 beautiful home tours shared throughout the week, so check back daily for all of the link updates!

Our Green and White Christmas Dining Room

Today, I'm going to be showing you around our Christmas dining room. This year I went with mostly green and white decor using dried oranges throughout for a pop of color. It's definitely a bit of a change from the fun red and white Christmas decor that I used last year, but I love switching things up and am really enjoying this more traditional Christmas look.

The inspiration for the room really started with the amber glass bottle centerpiece and the DIY felt gingerbread man garland that I created. Christmas greenery, wood beads, and the natural elements of the dried oranges and pinecones tie all of the different spaces in the room together.

Dining Table

If you're not sure where to start with your decor, a centerpiece is a great starting point! This amber glass centerpiece kind of came together accidentally, but I loved how it turned out and it turned into the whole color scheme for the room. {You can find the DIY tutorial for this Christmas center piece HERE}.

For the rest of the table, I just used a simple neutral table runner. I have a lot of ideas for a pretty green and white Christmas tablescape so stay tuned for that!

I also like to dress up the light fixture above the table with a garland and then add a few ornaments to go with whatever theme or color scheme I'm using. This year I used the dried orange ornaments and some cinnamon gingerbread man ornaments that I made 4 or 5 years ago {and they still smell delicious!}

Christmas Tree

We actually have three different Christmas trees in our house but this one is my favorite to decorate. Our main family tree is in our living room {that we all decorate}, but this one is all mine! I love that you see this tree right when you walk in the front door and it's always so nice to come home to it all lit up.

I went with some green ribbon on the tree this year and it looks so pretty against all of the white flocking. Most of the ornaments are the same as last year but I added a few green ones that I used on our living room tree last year and found a new snowflake tree topper to finish it off.

Keeping most of the ornaments neutral and metallic makes it really easy to switch up the accent colors each year. All you need is ribbon and a few ornament swaps for a whole new look!

Of course, the best part is when everything is lit up!

Sideboard

Our sideboard is probably my favorite thing to decorate in our dining room. I stripped it down to the mirror and white birch trees from our fall sideboard and decided to use it for a little cookie bar station.

I used our Merry Little Christmas printable in the center of the side board and flanked it with some white nutcrackers on either side. {You can download your own free copy HERE.} Originally, I was planning on switching it out with our North Pole Cookie Co. printable, but ended up keeping the Merry Little Christmas sign.

I tied in the dried oranges with ornaments hung from the white birch trees and a DIY wood bead garland that I made last year. You can find the tutorial for how to dry oranges as well as the wood bead ornaments and garland HERE.

And finally I added the cookie jars! I bought these little white houses at Target a few years ago and found the white Gingerbread Bakery one at Walmart. Even if you don't fill the jars with cookies, you can always add other Christmas treats or just use the jars for storage.

I love all of the natural elements put together!

Buffet and Hutch

I probably get the most questions about where I got our buffet and hutch from. We actually bought it over 20 years ago when we first moved into our house. It was originally a bright honey wood stain, and I really wanted to update it. About 5 years ago, I painted our table, buffet, and hutch with Annie Sloan chalkpaint {in graphite} and it made such a difference!

I have a lot of white dishes and serving ware and love how the white pops against the black. To dress the hutch up for the holidays, I just added some sprigs of greenery, dried oranges, and Christmas ornaments under a couple of cloches.

I love layering different garlands together and mixed this faux greenery with a snowy pinecone garland and my DIY felt gingerbread man garland on top of the hutch.

I topped off the buffet with a Holly Jolly tray…

Drink Station

The back corner of the room usually gets a drink station of some sort.

I purchased this mug ladder a few years ago from Decor Steals and love dressing it up for the different holidays. I added the galvanized tin on the bottom for a little extra storage for napkins, towels, or other small accessories.

The tray table serves as a little punch bar or other beverage bar. I used a spoon rack to hold some small appetizer plates that double as some cute decor.

I added a string of dried oranges to the tree and topped everything off with some battery operated twinkle lights.

Christmas Night Time Glow

I'll leave you with a few images of my favorite part – that beautiful night time glow! I wish I could capture the magic a little better so you could see what it looks like in real life, but these will have to do. 🙂
